MICHAEL RÖRBY
Michael Rörby, originally from Stockholm, Sweden moved to Amsterdam 2001. At present time he devides his time between New York, Amsterdam and Paris. Besides the work with his own Quartet, MRQ, his main focus lies with Blazin' Quartet and Modern Balkan Jazz Orchestra
Other significant cooperations are with Saxophone great Gijs Hendriks and the nestor of Dutch Drumming, John Engels
As a sideman he is to be seen with Mischa van der Wekken Quintet, The Glenn Miller Memorial Orchestra, Rootsriders, Big Boy Caprice, Giovanca and Zuluwannsago
Previous musical collaborations includes Edy Martinez, Tetzepi, Trabucombo, Zuiderzee Orkest, Tumbabo, ILLICIT, Dvora Davis, Souled Jazz, New Cool Collective, New Generation Big Band, HOTEL, Roberto Aran, Konrad Kosseleck Big Band and John Gration Combination to mention a few
Studio Credits includes: Jerique Allen, Mikheil Urushadze, Marco Toro, Roberto Aran, Gee Titulaer, Gerardo Rosales, Scallymatic Orchestra, Corresponcence, Amsterdam Jazz Collective, Big Boy Caprice, Giovanca, Erik Löfmarck, ILLICIT, Opposites, Pro Seed, Dj Guy Lejune, Jon Rekdal, Branko Galoic, New Generation Big Band and various commercials
The last years has included television performances (VPRO), radio broadcasts and appearing in René Seegers' film "Madame Jeanette" directed by Paula van der Oest
Michael Rörby is an alumni of Kungl Musikhögskolan - Stockholm, Sweden, from which he holds a Master of Fine Arts in Music year 2000 and Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Amsterdam, Netherlands, where he graduated the Second Phase with highest honors in 2003
